Are Corrugated Cardboard Pallets Effective?

When you’re looking at a pallet that is made from corrugated cardboard, you might be confused. How does one pallet made of cardboard hold all of those products that are neatly packaged?  Isn’t it going to squish this the moment the load moves?  Well, they do work, and they are great for a lot of people who distribute, manufacture, or even people in the world of retail that are looking to stack and add some goods onto pallets that are there. It’s an invention that can really help with improving your shipping and fulfillment experience.

How this works

You can see that it’s  a simple pallet made of cardboard, but it can support upwards of 10,000 pounds of different weight, especially when properly distributed. Wooden pallets can’t even hold half of that, and you might wonder how in the world it’s managed to do that so easily.

It’s actually because of the physics behind this type of box.  Cardboard that’s corrugated offers ridges and grooves that are between paper layers, offering proper distribution of the loads that are there. These pallets are made with a singular axis being a bit stronger than the rest.  This of course offers an added benefit of the ridges and grooves, boosting the strength that’s there.

The benefits of such.

The obvious benefit of this is that it holds so much more, while also weighing far less than a regular pallet that’s made of wood. When you ship these types of goods down the road, or through the air and across the sea, you’re paying for what’s called the pallet weight as well, and usually, if they’re not containing the product, it can add up.

Most of the tie pallets also are not that heavy, about 19 pounds, compared to the 70 pounds that the wooden ones are.  This is definitely better if you’re shipping a lot, and also don't want to pay for extra labor that’s there. Let’s say for example that you’ve got a container that’s loaded with up to 20 different pallets on a tractor-trailer, and this usually is about 1400 pounds for a wooden pallet, but for those that are using cardboard, it’s a mere 380 pounds. That’s over 1000 pounds of shipping weight that’s taken off.

Think about how that saves you some money. You’ll see it add up, especially if heavier product and transport of such is your thing.

They’re also far cheaper to make too. You can even get these made from recycled paper too.

If you do need to replace this, it’s also far cheaper than say if you have a pallet that’s made of wood. You’re also getting them for longer too, and they tend to actually last a bit longer.

Another benefit is that it’s safer for the people who handle your stuff. Think about the problems with wood. There is the fact that you can get splinters in your hands, or if there is a rusty staple or nail, you’ll need to get a tetanus shot to fix the problem.

Cardboard doesn’t have that in there, so it’s a lot safer in the long haul to have, which is a beneficial factor to consider.

It’s really the best option for all sorts of businesses. Even if you don’t’ do extensive shipping, through the use of cardboard pallets, you’ll be able to not only ship out more product, but they’re also far more effective, especially when you want something that not only works, but also something that offers a variety of benefits for you to enjoy, and a lot that you can like too.
